Baby this week
Many units call this overdue. The baby can still grow. Placenta and fluid are watched more carefully (CTG, sometimes scans). Induction is commonly offered between 41 and 42 weeks because waiting past 42 raises risk — that is population data, discussed with you as an individual.
- Bigger does not always mean “too big to birth” — that call is clinical
- CTG is a snapshot of heart rate and contractions
- You can ask about membrane sweep, prostaglandin, drip — and about waiting with extra monitoring
