Week 11 in detail

Hands can fist — hiccups you will not feel yet

Baby this week

The fetus can open and close hands, hiccup, and tumble in fluid you cannot feel. Hair follicles form on the scalp. The face is more defined. Movements are real; your abdominal wall is still too thick to notice them.

  • Hiccups are a diaphragm rehearsal, not distress
  • Tooth buds are present under the gums
  • The head is still about half the length — proportions will catch up

Your body this week

Extra blood volume can make you run hot. Hair and nails may thicken. That is hormones, not a new shampoo miracle. Keep cotton layers. Heartburn can start as the valve at the top of the stomach relaxes.

  • Feeling warmer is not a fever — a thermometer settles arguments
  • Nasal congestion without a cold is pregnancy rhinitis
  • Calcium-rich food supports bones that are ossifying now

Get ready

Moisturise after showers because itching starts before a bump looks “big.” The checklist above is belly, calcium, and fabric. If itching is intense on palms or soles, that is a different problem — call, do not just lotion.

A general guide, not medical advice. Scan timing and symptoms vary — ask your clinician.
