Week 29 in detail

Filling out — pack a bag even if you feel early

Baby this week

Muscle and lung tissue keep maturing. Fat fills wrinkles. Skin looks less like parchment. The baby still has room to roll but you will feel it more. Temperature control is improving.

  • A bigger baby means sharper kicks under the ribs
  • Hiccups may last minutes; they usually settle
  • Head-down is common but not required this week

Your body this week

The uterus crowds the diaphragm: talking while climbing stairs is a negotiation. Left-side sleep helps blood flow back to the heart. Sitting cross-legged for an hour can go numb — uncross.

  • Hospital bag now is insurance for an early labour, not pessimism
  • Braxton Hicks should still be irregular
  • If fluid leaks, put a pad on and call — do not test with a towel for a day

Get ready

Pack a basic bag (yours and a newborn outfit). The checklist above is the bag, circulation, and labour breathing. The bag guide lists the boring useful items. You can add snacks later.

A general guide, not medical advice. Scan timing and symptoms vary — ask your clinician.
