Week 30 in detail

Temperature control — lanugo starts to go

Baby this week

The baby is better at regulating temperature. Brain surface wrinkles deepen. Lanugo thins. Senses are close to term quality. You will feel big rolls more than flutter.

  • Less lanugo is a step toward the newborn look
  • Fat is energy for the first days after birth
  • Quiet periods still need to match this baby’s usual pattern

Your body this week

Breathlessness and pelvic pressure are the third-trimester tax. Kicks that take your breath are usually good news. A birth ball can unload the pelvis for 15 minutes better than the sofa.

  • Infant CPR is easier to learn before you are exhausted
  • Partners need a job list for labour, not vibes
  • Swelling that marks your socks is common; swelling that marks your face is a call

Get ready

Book a baby first-aid or CPR class. Sit on a birth ball daily if your hips allow. The checklist above is the class, the ball, and roles. Reduced movements still override any class schedule — go in.
