Week 7 in detail

Blueberry-sized, brain growing fast

Baby this week

The brain is adding neurons at a very high rate. Nostrils, lens pits, and hand plates are appearing. Kidneys are getting ready to make urine later. A tail is still there; it will recede. Skip viral β€œX neurons per minute” figures β€” the point is speed, not a lab count.

  • Hands are plates, not separate fingers yet
  • The head is large compared with the body β€” that is normal embryonic proportion
  • Muscle twitches can start; you will not feel them

Your body this week

The uterus has grown a lot from its non-pregnant size, which can mean pelvic ache or more toilet trips. Blood volume is starting to rise. Rest is a medical need this week, not laziness.

  • Peeing more is the uterus and kidneys, not always a UTI β€” burning or fever still needs a test
  • Carbs you can keep down beat a perfect plate you vomit
  • Aim for steady fluids; amniotic fluid later depends on you being hydrated now

Get ready

Protect sleep like an appointment. The checklist above is rest, carbs, and water. If you cannot keep fluids down for a day, call β€” hyperemesis is a diagnosis, not a badge.

A general guide, not medical advice. Scan timing and symptoms vary β€” ask your clinician.
